CARTAGENA DE INDIAS…

… short Cartagena, is considered by many as the „Pearl of the Caribbean“ and is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in all of South America. Thanks to the strategic location of the waterway between Spain and South America it grew very fast and is regarded as one of the first Spanish city foundations in the north of South America. It didn’t take me very long to fall in love with this amazing city. It’s definitely one of my Top 3 All-Time Favorite Locations. Particularly impressive is the beautiful old town, which is still completely surrounded by city walls. Brightly colored houses in the colonial style line the narrow streets, small parks with palm forests invite you to relax, ceviche and other traditional delicacies await the hungry traveler at every nook and corner of the city …

However, a beautiful city does not necessarily mean a perfect stay. There are some other factors that need to be considered, such as the accommodation, the prices, the people, the weather, etc. In my case everything was perfect in Cartagena. I could not have found a better place to stay than the small, familiar and cozy hotel „Casa Galleons“. I met great people, made new friends and of course enjoyed the nice weather. …kurz Cartagena wird von vielen als die „Perle der Karibik“ bezeichnet und gilt als eine der schönsten Kolonialstädte in ganz Südamerika. Dank der strategischen Lage für den Schiffsverkehr zwischen Spanien und Südamerika wuchs Cartagena sehr schnell und gilt als eine der ersten spanischen Stadtgründungen im Norden Südamerikas. Mich persönlich hat Cartagena ebenfalls sehr schnell für sich eingenommen und gehört definitiv ganz weit nach vorne in meiner Liste der Lieblingsstädte. Ganz besonders beeindruckend ist natürlich die wunderschöne Altstadt, die noch komplett von der Stadtmauer umgeben ist. Farbenfrohe Häuser im spanischen Kolonialstil säumen die schmalen Gässchen, kleine Parks mit Palmenwäldern laden zum Entspannen ein, Ceviche und andere traditionelle Köstlichkeiten erwarten den hungrigen Reisenden an allen Ecken und Enden der Stadt…

Eine schöne Stadt allein sorgt allerdings nicht unbedingt für einen perfekten Aufenthalt. Da gehören noch einige andere Faktoren dazu wie z.B. die Unterkunft, die Preislage, die Menschen, das Wetter usw. In meinem Fall hat hier in Cartagena einfach alles gepasst. Eine bessere Unterkunft als das kleine, familiäre und urgemütliche Hotel „Casa de Galeones“ hätte ich mir nicht wünschen können. Ich habe tolle Menschen kennengelernt, neue Freundschaften geschlossen und natürlich das herrliche Wetter genossen. Aber genug der vielen Worte, hier sind die Bilder:
